Vale Blanche

Ok ... Betty, you're the last one standing!!!! God Bless you Blanche!! There's no one left to carry your mantle ... all these so-called "cougar" types simply have no clue. You were the original MILF! And you were sexual mentor for less enlightened times ... and the sad fact of the matter is ... we kinda need you now more than ever! I am truly heartbroken.

PS: to the bastard lowlife scum who broke into V's car, got her address details off the rego slip in her glovebox and then went to her house and robbed her ... I sincerely hope painful boils form all over your body that suppurate slowly and burst and they run out of morphine in the gutter you've crawled out of and will eventually crawl back in ... why don't you fucking target the rich folk on the other side of the yarra !!! Not struggling people who have to support themselves on their own and can ill afford this type of shit happening.

PPS: Wendy reckons that there are no more shows about old people (her words, not mine) on TV like there used to be (i.e. Golden Girls and Murder She Wrote - again, her words!). There are only token old people nowadays, who aren't the main protagonists ... and guess what? I think she maybe right!!

PPS: On things geriatric ... I am officially old now ... a client signed off her email with bfn ... and I had no fucking clue that its stood for "bye for now"!! Mind you, bfn isn't that professional ... is it?

Oh ok now I get it!!!

Ok .. I never understood the Hills ... but now I like totally get it ... totally!!

I especially love Audrina's "ceiling eyes" and how Brody asks Spencer whether he's coming to his birthday party when they're already there. This is actually pretty cool viewing despite the fact that I am not a fan of poncey ankle-biting tryhards (don't let me get started on the parents!!).

Wild Horses - Guilty pleasure and a justifiable rant

Ok ... firstly this is the ultimate guilty pleasure ... is it horribly horribly horribly bad that I love SuBo's Wild Horses?? Do you hate me now? Do you want to spit in my face and tear my hair out? Will you still trust my album choices and recommendations? Will you still keep reading this blog tomorrow? It wasn't that long ago when I spat chips at Australian Idol, in particular fat fuck's comments (hubris! hubris! hubris!) about Roshani's song choice when she performed the very same song!! So who's laughing all the way to the bank (unfotch its not Roshani) and who's crying in his "oops I lost my bra" cornflakes!

For your viewing pleasure ... here's Roshani's (2008) version:

And here's SuBo

"Death by song choice" hey??

Melbourne, its an oven out there!!

Gee ... is that really how Bird's nest soup came about?

Ok ...its a sad indictment of the times that I am currently hooked on a mediacorp soap opera called The Little Nonya.

Can you remember the advent of the now humble (and  near obsolete) VCR? (What the hell! I remember getting our first colour television - exciting times!!) And after years of homeland bashing, I have finally succumbed to the erstwhile laughable ways of yore. I remember being in the morning session at school, coming home in the afternoon, walking down CP Road and being dazzled by the flickering cathodic rays of under the counter hong kong serials - under the counter not so much due to the antiquated prurient concerns of an ill-disguised police state, but moreso due to the fact that chinese dialects were considered half baked and culturally ill-mannered. Over the counter = dubbed into Mandarin. Under the counter = in the original language, with blood and gore and the occasional glimpse of occidental skin.

Anyhoo, in a long winded way, those were the days of the VCR - I remember seeing filial children with plastic bags crammed full of VCR's - separated into bundles according to series numbers - ready for some bored housewife's afternoon delight, in between the sweeping, washing and cooking. How we looked down our noses at such folly! And how we have now regressed as Father time turns the countdown dial with glee ...
The Little Nonya tracks the ups and downs of the Huang family and associated in-laws from pre-war days through to current times - oddly enough some characters age, others don't, but hey ho, we're never ones to let acting or make-up get in the way of a good bitch fight or laborious crying scene. Our central character is quite a progressive one in many ways, and ultimately its the notions of filial piety and familial ties that are upheld and eulogized as the binding forces effecting a satisfying and desirable outcome in the end. Oh and not only is our little nonya a bastion of women's rights in her own humble way, she is also I believe an early example of an SPG - can't say why as it is a bit of a spoiler.
Look, despite some rather spurious and frankly laughable attempts at alluding to the origin of certain delicacies (discovery of birds nest soup and chendol), and the exceedingly overwrought and melodramatic tone of proceedings in general, this was strangely rivetting and I barrelled through all 34 episodes in the space of about 3 nights. It helped that I have been touched by a mild case of stress related insomnia.

I hesitate to recommend this to people in general as I think to gain the most out of the experience (and it is a big ask - 34 hours or so of your life down the soap opera drain) there has to be a cultural connection of sorts - but all I can say now is hurry up M and recover as quickly as possible ... I'm dying to cook some nyonya food!

The recession depression rag!

Ok ... as things are looking shaky at work and the economy at large .. I have had to bite the bullet and forgo the following luxuries:

(i) French and Saunders Live!!! (I know ... cyanosis is setting in even as I type this ... you don't know dear reader(s) how much this is hurtin' ... but at $174 a pop for just normal seats ... its too hard to make the numbers work

(ii) Human League - V Sideshow (rumoured to be doing the entire Dare album)

(iii) M83 - V Sideshow

(i) has been addressed somewhat by scoring the DVD for $9.95 at JB's.

(ii) and (iii) could possibly be alleviated by me going to V with R ... but its still a decision yet to be made

However, me and M have splashed out on a photo that our talented friend L took for her first major exhibition ... we loved it from the first time we saw it .. but have dragged the chain until now ... K&M scored another one from this series ... and now we have our very own:

L brought it round on Monday and initially we had it hanging above the fireplace -

along with another photo of L's, the Lab partners print that P gave me, and a little creation of my own ...

But then we decided that it didn't quite fit the space so we moved things round in another corner and ended up with:

I still don't quite like the way it cuts across the picture rail line ... but for the time being we are reluctant to put any holes in the walls ... we may consider lengthening the string .... but at least it is now in a corner with a print by L and also another photo ... and my speaker is no longer covered by the door ...

We had to shift the 2 Margaret Preston prints across to where the other Preston print hangs ... so now we have a Preston corner ... or the nanna spot as I like to call it:

And what was it all in aid of ... our anniversary ... well soon to be ... (did you make it to the toilet ... or have you spewed all over yourself?)

and guess what!!! Still hurtin'!!!

For the most part anyways, and guess what the tie-in ad is for this programme ... METAMUCIL??!!! What the ... ??? What the fuck are you eating?? If you require fibre supplements at this age ... really at any age for that matter!!! ... If you're feeling taht bound up its time to look at the diet! Get yo'self down to your nearest vietnamese and eat a big plate of steaming green leafy ... its much better for you ... and way tastier!!!

PS - another one bites th dust (D & R are no more!!)
PPS - has anyone been with a deaf person before??

Every Year I Do This

Ok ... every year I get sucked in with Aus idol ... and every single fucking time I reach a point in the competition where I hit the 'target market' brick wall. Tonight was Rolling Stones night and Roshani picked Wild Horses and sang it in bluesy Torch Song fashion ... a quiet moment of barely controlled desperation ... not cabaret .. what is it with these judges!! Seriously!! Kyle pounced on her for poor song choice ... and then proceeded to rub it in when commenting on the next contestant saying that they were smart in the head ... and the other two comedians agreed!!! Poor song choice because it was not a well known Stones song???? Hello??? Its all about the marketing with this contest now ... even more so than ever ... and considering the dire straits the music industry is currently in ... this all seems like such a facile exercise. So there is always a jumping the shark moment for me and if Roshani gets booted out in the elimination round .. come 7.30 pm next Sunday, I'm reaching for the remote marked DVD. And again, the "country shearer" ends up being the most marketable .. is this because it makes middle australia feel less guilty spending their baby bonus on a plasma tv because they are spectators of a show that celebrates the aussie battler, and just purely the fact that they tune in faithfully each week is validity itself of a charitable work well done .. or it because its much easier to take when said aussie battler is dropped like the proverbial stone after the 3 cd contract expires ... after all the aussie battler exists out on the drought fried plains far removed from the air-coinditioned cardboard walls we exist in .. with our artificial lakes and our quest for the next branded gadget to occupy our stimulus starved brains ... and why are we so starved .. because we're scared of difference ... we're even scared of celebrating difference vicariously .... and the sad fact of the matter is ... those who are prepared, like me, to shout at the barricades "Vive la Difference" ... only ever really do it in our own heads!!

So for those of you out there forging ahead the path less troddened, I salute you. Remember - Ridicule is nothing to be scared of!!

ps. sorry about the rant

If you dream of the girl for you, then call me and get 2 for the Price of One ... well almost!

Ok ... so I must have been feeling the need for some retail therapy which I'm now kinda regretting. These 2 months were supposed to be reserved for catching up on the ole savings account ... unfortch after doing so well I've fallen hard and fast ... and have stooped to actually purchasing a garment from the Basement at Myer ... oh the shame ... jeez .. I'm just kidding ... I am a snob ... but not that much of a snob!!!

However, as much as I have gussied this all up, the fact remains ("I'm the only who can hold your reigns" only tragic 80s freaks and R will get what I mean) that I have spent more money than I "should-of" on things that I "could-of" done without .. i.e. CLOTHES!!!

Admittedly, there was a buy 2 and get 60% off at the Chinese clothing store in mid-city plaza ... so that's a pretty good bargain ... and I tend to find a better fit in these stores .. but the sales chicks always try to put me in larger sizes coz they don't see me as asian .. anyhoo, there was a great "Rhythm Nation" coat that i would have got if they had a small ... it felt cosy and warm too ... so I'm spewing that I hadn't gotten there sooner ... but I was deliberatly not climbing those pokemon stickered stairs for the last few weeks ... knowing fully that I would have succumbed to the almighty pleasures of the Discount!! And didn't I just prove it today!!

At said Asian men's Boutique - I got a cardie and this pseudo crushed leather jacket ... which I love ... but errs a little on the Politix (circa 2000) side!!!

I then made the mistake of swinging by Myer to try on AGAIN the 40% off trench that I already tried on yesterday ... I wasn't sure of the length, but at 40% I was determined to make it work .. I try it on again ... and then hand it back to myer chick and say I'll think about it .... I am literally standing at the lights on Londsdale fully intending to cross and head back to work .. but the "kia-su" (ask your singaporean friends what this means) devil in me spins my feet around involuntarily and before you know it .. myer chick is swiping my credit card and I am doomed to interest rate purgatory!!!

But I came away with this ... does look on the el cheapo side in comparison with some of the coats these cool boys have been rocking ... and let me tell you this ... there are soo many cool dudes out there all of a sudden ... I think this slim silhouette has somehow touched a cord ... perhaps its the inner bogan in all of us ... becoz lets face it ... there was a time that the only ones rocking those skinny black levis were the very same with the "business up front, party at the back" hairstyles.

Bottom line is I like it ... I'll wear it ... and really thats all that should matter!!

PS - how great is this season of SYTYCD ... I've seriously been feeling the cabin pressure so many times!!! I have too many favourites .. but the ones I hang out for are Twitchington (me and the rest of the world seems like), Mark and ooh forgot her name .. blonde cheerleader type ... and Joshua and Katee!!!

PPS - HEROES is back and Milo's mouth is seriously twisted!! Creeped me out ... but I'd still (in the manner of Dlisted) hit it!!!

PPPS - 24th August 2008 - hope you have this marked on your diary and programmed into you PVR - IDOL of course ... duh!! I've already picked my favs from the ad ... haha ... how pathetic this is.

PPPPS (nearly finished with the pleeeaaaaazzzeeee sees) - perhaps its the clothes .. the media images ... the obsession with status and money .. I dunno ... but I'm truly feeling the 80s vibe ... so this is what has been rocking the Ipod of late .... and this is just the beginning I'm afraid:

Communication - Spandau Ballet
Bette Davis Eyes - Kim Carnes
Electric Avenue - Eddy Grant
Harden your Heart - Quarterflash
Vienna - Ultravox
Metal Dance - SPK
A little bit of Echo (erm and the Bunnymen .. not Pseudo!!)
Some Hall and Oates form the drum machine period (i.e. Private Eyes, I can't go for that, Maneater)
Sheena Easton - Machinery (huh .. djyeah!! of course)
Life in a Northern Town - Dream Academy
Yazoo, Depeche, Duran, Wham .. the usual

Trouble is ... I no longer have the fringe ... hhmmm maybe its time to have those hair extensions again!!

Diana from V - Could you die!!!

Ok ... firstly ... OH.MY.GOD.!!!! I have to explain. Way back in the 80s, for a period, one of the few things that made school bearable was that you could see your friends and talk incessantly about last night's epsiode of V!! What am I talking about?? Well, V was a miniseries on TV about alien invasion of earth.

It had all your basic american stereotypes dripping in acid wash and shoulder pads, frizzy perms and bodywaves!! But central to all this hairsprayed polyester madness was the character of Diana - the acid queen, cat suit wearing, big haired, redlipsticked, rodent eating head of the aliens!!

diana - aka Jane badler in V

Well nothing has changed really ....

jane in recent permutation

Turns out Jane Badler not content with just being erstwhile TV queen, is also a singer ... of the torchsong cabaret variety.

Anyhoo, let me say how fortuitous it is that I just watched tonight's CSI where Grissom expounds on his "string theory" because this is the perfect encapsulation of the notion that there is no real coincidence in life.

When the DVD of V came out several years ago ... I shat my pants!! M had never seen it but it didn't take long before he was hooked. We then mention this to DK who as it turned out remembered it from her childhood and got an aboslute kick out of watching it again ... P apparently was not allowed to see it because of its appalling cheesiness?? I dunno ...

But despite being in different states, towns even countries, we have all been touched in some way by V ... and extending this further ... we have all been touched by Jane!!

But the real gem of this story was when I read about how she now is married to an Australian, resides in Melbourne and had hooked up with local band SIR to record and perform. I shat meself for the second time and couldn't wait to share this extraordinary piece of coincidence with someone, anyone who would indulge me. But I never got the opportunity and when I did, I forgot about it entirely, until one day I blurted it all out to R, who is my 80s "friend in the fridge".

He'd never seen a single episode of V but he goes "funny you mention it ... " The world stopped spinning right there and then!!!

Turns out he's doing BVs for her and the band (are you dying at this moment ... coz I'm reliving death as I type this!!!) Oh the questions the questions ... and none answered to my satisfaction ... betch!!!

Well forward the reel to a few months later and I read about the album launch of The Devil has my Double at Toff in the town - Jane Badler and SIR. So I text R to ask if he's performing and he says Yes and do I want names on the door (Dead!!) so I says to M we're going!! and as we were planning to meet up with P anyways I say Lets go!! So off we went.

We parked the car at P's and trundled off in the cold on foot to one of Melbourne's finest drinking holes - the Toff in the Town:

We get there before 9 so Toff wasn't that packed. We even managed to score a banquette all to ourselves (well you say Booth, I say banquette .. i just like the word). The whole Curtin House joint on Swanston Street is one of the many reasons I love this town. Its all here in one building ... cookie, metropole, order & progress, toff in the town ... warms the cockles of this aesthete's heart!! Creative nirvana!!

M looking all ghostly and nosferatu-like in our banquette

After pretty much sculling a divine glass of Gewurtztramminer ... we headed off to the performance space to bags a seat.

Its an intimate space, but all the tables were filled so we had to put up with chairs at the back of the venue in front of the support for the support, Jess something or other, who we naturally bagged without knowing that her posse was in earshot behind us ... typical!!!

blurry shot of Jess in her velour catsuit - hhmmm

In between we played a game of spot the crap celebrity ... sigrid thornton won hands down .. is there a more annoying tv personage??? what is it about her?? She's relatively harmless ... is that cockscuker's mouth ... its like she permanently has a costume duck beak's mask on!!!

Finally it was Jane on stage!!! I absolutely loved it!!! Technical difficulties and all! She had the voice, the outfit, the poses ... it was truly "melodramatic pop/jazz" as described by her myspace page. I kept saying to P that I felt like I was in a david lynch movie ... all we needed was a coked up dwarf and some backward masking.

R looked nervous but maybe it was more to do with the fact that he also spotted Nanouk of the ice in her siberian fur hat!!! Should have taken a photo of that one ... what a waste!!

crap zoom on mobile phone camera ... but that's R with the white tie

Will be buying her album at the earliest convenience.

Apologies to any friends still reading this but I will be dining out on this story for awhile.

Hope you all had great weekends too!!!

And here is THE scene!!:

And here is the hotness live!!!:

Amazonia

Ok ... so the little cardboard box was rammed into my post box when I got home today with its little amazon.com mailing label. Super excitement!!! In it was my copy of Kathy Griffin's Allegedly DVD and Kissing the Pink's Naked (plus ep) on CD!!

I waited till M was passed out on the couch and swopped DVD players so i could watch Kathy in all her Region 1 stand-up glory. I've seen this all on Youtube previously but it was nice to watch it in its entirety without the hassle of waiting for the damn thing to load thanks to my lovely cheaparse basic broadband (read dialup) connection.

I was in total celebrity-bashing heaven!!

And if you don't know who Kathy griffin is, she was in that sitcom with Brooke Shields set in a gossip magazine with Judd "breakfast club" Nelson (?) and that guy who played the nerdy music critic who topped himself?? Don't remember it? Can't really blame you!

Anyways ... here's a taster for you:

PS - btw, this blog has been getting daily hits of double figures!!! Via the rss feed - what's so interesting? thats what I want to know - say Hi whoever you are ok?

PPS - Where's my other Amazon delivery which I got confirmation on first??

And you probably have never heard of Kissing the Pink - so its time to educate!! (I love youtube!!!)

So thanks to the still wonderful youtube, here 'tis:

sur la piste de dance baby

Ok ... so I was having a trip down memory lane with the Two fat Ladies Season 2 dvd.

Jennifer and Clarissa cook dinner for the Gurkha regiment (well for the officers ... not the hardworking gurkhas ... but nevermind) in a tent behind the Officer's mess. And both are reminscing about Officers Balls and dancing and Jennifer pipes up in disdain about the modern state of dance describing it as thus:

"people shaking their fists at each other to something dismal by something electric"

I know she meant this perjoratively, but its the best descipription of dance music evah!!!

Loves it!!!

In other news, M had band practice for the better part of today, so i trundled off to my old haunt in Fitzroy. It was one of those lovely autumn days, slightly cool but bathed in warm sunshine ... I hit brunswick street ... walked up to Getrude ... down Smith onto Johnston and back again ...

I love Fitzroy, even though Brunswick Street is completely yuppified ... its still the best place to people watch ... especially for those painfully hip youth tribes ... you know the ones .. in their skinnies crowned with layer upon layer of asymmetrical fabric .... a trio of them beat me to the front at Nom'd and descended on the men's rack ... so I missed out on this one ...

If only I had tee'd up someone to share it with me ... but hey ho ... it was a spur of the moment thing for me.

My wallet breathed a sigh of relief at the end of it anyways, coz I was on the lookout for a light winter coat .. but nothing really caught my eye ... but I did breeze through Kleins and came away with a bottle of Diptyque cologne ... i needed a replacement as I am on my last few squirts of my current scent ...

Although M thinks my nasal passages are completely shot due to my nicotine habit, I still do appreciate body scents ... admittedly I am partial to the human body's natural smell (note natural smell ... not unwashed smell) when speaking of arousal (ok ... out on a limb here at the moment) ... a nice cologne does sometimes ignite those sluggish pheremones ...

I like discovering unknown colognes .. particularly spicy ones with a hint of musk ... and I'm desperately trying not to be elitist ... but department store scents just have that factory undertone ... and at the end of the day ... there's only one note of scent left and that note is stale ...

So next time you have a little extra in the kitty ... find yourself a Kleins store and chat to the staff there ... you'll find something uniquely you ... and more than likely two single squirts will last you through the day ... cigarettes and alcohol notwithstanding

I'm still sold on patchouli, sandalwood, cedarwood ... and anything mildly citric ... I remember trying something on that had a hint of tobacco and literally being transported on a wave of nostalgia to a time when my dad smoked a pipe and I use to sniff his empty tobacco tins ... I would have bought it too except I wasn't exactly cashed up at that point in time ...

G wears the L'Artisan Patchouli ... but it smells better on him than it does on me ... ALWAYS ALWAYS try it on your own skin ... then leave the store and do other things and then smell it again ... if you still like it and it hasn't changed your initial perception ... go back and buy it ... never never never impulse buy a cologne ... or worse, buy something just because it has a full page ad in your local fash rag ... or a billboard at the bus stop ... these things have to warm to your skin ... much like a pair of new jeans eventually softens against your legs natural creases ...

On a final note ... I hope you've all read Patrick Suskind's Perfume ... if you are at all interested in scents then you must read this book immediately!!! (don't cheat and hire the movie ... although a good effort ... the pleasure in Suskind's writing is the passages leap off the page and make a direct hit on those olfactory cells ... it might as well be a scratch and sniff book ... I kid you not ... its that good!)

PS ... bumped into my old boss C today ... he runs a clothing label now ... and just opened an outlet on Gertrude ... to this day he still thinks M is called Gordon??
PPS ... please note I didn't mention the clothes ... nuff said

My other scent picks:

not to everyone's taste ... and a little pricier than the other commonly available designer perfumes ... M hates it ... and chicks really dig it

I believe this is actually a woman's scent ... but its just the right amount of citrus for me ... and this lasts well over 24 hrs

still one of my all time favs ... smells like an old fashioned barber shop ... and occasionally goes on special ... well worth it.

How True ... nik naks in the garage!!

Ok .. so finally the BBC puts out the entire French and Saunders series in a box set.

BUT is it really complete? Apparently not.

The Christmas specials are not included, which means no Star wars/Lord of the Rings/kill bill spoofs (and of course it was too much to hope that the Amy Wino vs Britney farewell skit would be included), and rumour has it the Diana "got it all" skit is not present. Out of some kind of misguided monarchist deference?? If so, then dawn and jennifer I shake my head at you and cluck my tongue in dissappointment.

Having said all this, I will be at JB's on the day purchasing my copy ... looking forward to hours of laughing till it hurts with M looking on in wonderment. Might have to watch this with R for the full hilarity experience.

(ok so I'm doing this at work ... sue me for being bored!!)

P is for Portishead

Ok ... is this just another way to suck some more of your hard earned dollars for an ever diminishing pool of music biz profits??

Its time to blame Radiohead again .... yeah pay what you like ... or pay nothing at all ... and then wham ... its a discbox set only available online and nowhere else ... and in the harsh light of day ... after the sense of euphoria dies down ... what bang did you really get for your buck ... the vinyl edition of the album ... an arty booklet ... and some off cuts which are interesting enough but nothing really mindblowing .. but what happen to the cover of Unravel .. bitches!!

Dear ole Trent Reznor has decided to do very much the same .. can we really put up with 2 discs of electronic meanderings wearing its 80s industrial nous on its sleeve with wholesale rip-off melodies from Bowie's Low years? NIN fan (-atics) step up to the plate.

Which leads me finally to the point of this whole post ...

Portishead finally releases another full studio album entitled imaginatively enough THIRD!! And guess what!! OMG its another digital download with limited edition boxset!!! And guess what ... it don't have no CD but it has the vinyl version of the album ... but in its defense ... the USB drive in the shape of the Portishead P is delicious!! AND it includes 4 (I think) films plus the digital version of the LP (but in the dreaded WMA format) ... AND it includes a cel ... but I'm not quite sure of what .... AND AND AND guess who got sucked in and had to pre-order this online (so I'm one of 10000 worldwide) ... YOURS TRULY!!! So 40 quid poorer and with a self induced stomach tumour on account of the long anxious wait for it to arrive.

But seriously ... how cool does it sound!!!

Its list time again ... because I quite enjoy these:

MUSIC

MGMT Oracular Spectacular (eveb tho I agree with D that they look like tosspots on MYSPACE ... but the opening track is fantastic)

These New Puritans - Beat Pyramid - ok its yet another frigging journo-speak genre ... NU-RAVE ... what the hell ... great album though

El Guincho - Alegranza .. this is so much fun ... a sort of whacked out Mexican Avalanches via Toronto

Black Mountain - In the Future - intense

Hot Chip - Made in the Dark - this one has finally clicked

Hercules and Love Affair - GAY!! But for the moment it serves a purpose

Migrating Bird - Songs of Lal Waterson - in a word .. beautiful

Thee Silver Mt Zion - hard work .. but ultimately a moving experience ... stirring like Arcade Fire but through a drunken drugged out haze

READS

Still on Northern Lights .. but I've reached the Polar Bear .. YAY

TV

Repeats during Prime Time ... absolutely no respect

FASHION?

Finally had a look round Zambezi ... Eastern Market prices ... for PVC lined tops ... erm .. I think not

Leopold - despite LMFF, whats currently in store is for the wannabe straight tool wanting to impress the blonde sluts in South Melbourne

BUT - 30% at David Jones - including those whacked out Frinetti pants ... so double YAY

Oprah question - does anyone in the audience truly love their job??

Mr Britpop-lite ... cya Later!

Ok .. so I don’t want to keep waffling on about Aus Idol but Britpop night left me totally underwhelmed. But I did get choked up with Jacob getting booted out. He was so gracious when he sang Let it Be and shook everyone’s hand. Poignant really, a hymn to fatality or creativity .. depending on which side of the denominational fence you are. Yet again I ask … what the fuck is Carl still doing in this competition!!!

Fave listens at the mo: PJ Harvey and Alice Smith

Oh and we saw Ratatouille … I think M got more out of it than I did, but it was a lot of fun … and I absolutely adore the Sun Cinema in Yarraville … in fact I adore Yarraville full stop … we had a yummy lunch at HausFrau … We shared a chicken and rocket focc and a sweet corn and parmesan muffin … really good coffees too!!

And I have to curb my clothes spending … damn you David Jones sale!!!! No more unnecessary purchasing until singers …. But I still lust after those Kenneth Cole calf length boots.

Spoke to Dad yesterday and heard that C sold his Aura Park flat as part of an en bloc sale!!!! (sorry yet another Singers reference)  I loved that place. Wish I had digital photos to upload … but the last time I took pics over there I was still entrenched in the dark ages of celluloid film. It was perfectly positioned and had such a great outlook and feel. Plus there were a few hot bods below … with their slutty sarong party (only Singaporeans would get this and then would say that its pot calling the kettle black … haha) girls … you know the ones … straight floppy hair, perfect tan … designer jewelry and shoes!! Oh I so always wanted to be one … HAHAHA! And who could forget those crazy nuns in the convent across the way … screaming with laughter one new year’s eve, and the middle-aged german frump who always seemed to take her cigga break on the balcony when I was frolicking in the pool …and the pebbled floor of the showers …and Mariah wafting through the common void from the apartment below …oh happy days.

I made myself depressed again by googling my old schoolmates … well the ones that I remember anyways … its too pathetic isn’t it. But to bolster my confidence, I wrote a song .. now if I can only remember where my fingers should be on the piano …… hehe.

(The sewing machine is a hydra louching over my pillow whilst I sleep …. The red zip and cardie pulsate in my dreams … and everywhere I see shorts, shorts and more shorts)
Ok I am back … just kinda freaked out about the whole sewing machine saga … and because I’ve got that Imogen Heap song stuck in my head .. it’s like a constant reminder …

Trains and Sewing Machines”

You know what peops, I really don’t want to grow old … or rather I really don’t want to act old and be around old people (and I’m not talking age). People who are excited about new things and pop culture craziness!!! People who still like drinking and laughing at silly totally unconnected things. Oh well.

I’m going to stop rambling now. Sorry readers!!
